Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 2026
Canada eTA Assistance is a private, independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the Government of Canada or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You can apply for an eTA directly on the official Government of Canada website at canada.ca.
Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Canada eTA Assistance (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal information when you visit this website or use our services. Please also read our Terms and Conditions.
Canada eTA Assistance provides independent guidance and support about Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). We help you understand the requirements and the official process, so you can complete and submit your own application on the official Government of Canada website.
We do not fill in, receive, review, store or submit eTA applications on anyone’s behalf.
Information we do not collect
Because you complete your eTA application yourself on the official government website, we never collect or hold your application details, including:
- passport or travel document numbers;
- photos or copies of your documents;
- the travel, address, employment or background details you enter in your application.
Any interactive tools on our website, such as eligibility checks or step-by-step guides, run in your own web browser. What you type into them is not sent to us or stored by us.
We will never ask you to send us your passport details. If you choose to include personal details in a message to us, we will use them only to answer your question and will not keep them longer than needed.
Information we do collect
We keep the information we hold to the minimum needed to run this website and provide our service:
- Contact information: your name, email address and the content of your message when you contact us by email, chat or our Contact Form.
- Order information: when you purchase our service, the checkout collects your name, email address and billing details so we can confirm your order and send your receipt.
- Payment information: payments are processed securely by our payment providers, such as PayPal or Stripe. We receive a confirmation of payment (for example, the amount and a transaction reference), but we never see or store your full card number.
- Website usage information: this website is hosted on Shopify, which automatically records standard technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you visit, using cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
How we use your information
- To provide the guidance and support you purchased and to answer your questions;
- To process payments, send receipts, and handle refund or cancellation requests;
- To keep this website secure and to prevent fraud or misuse;
- To understand how this website is used so we can improve it;
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Legal basis for using your information
Where data protection laws such as the UK GDPR or EU GDPR apply, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the service you purchased and to respond to your requests;
- Legal obligation: to keep financial records and to respond to lawful requests from authorities;
- Legitimate interests: to keep this website secure, prevent fraud and improve our service;
- Consent: for non-essential cookies and any marketing emails. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Who we share information with
- Payment providers (such as PayPal or Stripe), to process payments and refunds;
- Service providers that help us run this website and communicate with you, such as our website platform (Shopify) and email tools;
- Authorities, only when the law requires us to, or when needed to protect our legal rights.
Because we do not submit applications, we do not send any of your information to the Government of Canada or IRCC.
International transfers
Our service providers may store or process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, they use recognized safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your information.
How long we keep information
- Messages and support requests: for as long as needed to resolve your request, after which they are deleted;
- Order and payment records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require;
- Cookies: for the periods described in our Cookie Policy.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. Payments are handled by providers that meet card industry security standards (PCI DSS).
We will never ask for your card details or passport details by email, chat or phone. If you receive a message like this that claims to be from us, do not reply, and let us know at info@canadaetaservice.com.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent. To make a request, email us at info@canadaetaservice.com or use our Contact Form.
We respond within one (1) month. If a request is complex, we may extend this by up to two (2) further months, and we will tell you why.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom.
Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. For full details of the cookies used on this website and how to manage them, see our Cookie Policy.
Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian may use our guidance to help with a child’s eTA; the child’s application details are entered on the official government website and are not sent to us.
